Her character in Eastenders may not have much luck in love but Cheryl Fergison, who plays the loveable Heather, has certainly found her perfect man. Cheryl celebrated her marriage to Yassine in style at the end of October with their UK wedding, following their Moroccan ceremony earlier in the year. The event which took place in Selsdon Park Hotel in Surrey was certainly star studded with many of the UK's favourite TV celebs in attendance. In the day Cheryl wore the Analisa Lace Wedding Dress, a full length lace overlay dress with long sleeves and a V neckline. The dress is absolutely stunning and Cheryl looked amazing. A US based plus size store have undertaken a survey which shows that women think curvier celebrities are sexier and have the best fashion sense. The survey asked 10,000 women questions about fashion and body-image and although the majority of women spend their time aspiring to unrealistic body forms, it turns out that they actually think that curvier is better! 36% of women said that Marilyn Monroe was the sexiest celebrity and wished they had her body, followed closely by Beyonce Knowles, Sofia Vergara and Kim Kardashian. Results for Sexiest Celebrity - Marilyn Monroe: 36% Beyonce Knowles: 24% Sofia Vergara: 20% Kim Kardashian: 11% Gwyneth Paltrow: 6% Katie Holmes: 5% Christina Hendricks: 4% Blake Lively: 2% Although more evenly spread, it seems that the majority also think that the more curvy celebs dress better too... There is one way to guarantee maximum curve appeal in any outfit, and that is by carefully accessorising with a fabulous belt. Whatever your shape a carefully selected belt can be worn to accentuate your good bits and draw the eye away from areas you are less comfortable with, and lets face it, we all have them! A belt worn high on an empire waistline will draw the attention away from the tummy & hip area and accentuate a good bust. Pulling in higher up creates a slim waist effect higher up and allows your outfit to skim over the tummy & hip area giving a lovely curvy silhouette. This look is perfect with a simple empire waist dress like the obi belt & prague dress pictured, or a loose fit tunic top. ![]() A classic pear or hour glass shape can wear a belt on the natural waist line to draw attention to their natural curves and take attention away from the hip & bottom area. As the English winter weather sets in we can all be cheered a little by the prospect of the soon to be here festive season. One of my favourite things about this time of year is the parties & celebrations it brings, and the chance to dress up and feel a little extra special. Now this subject should cause some debate! Bashar Brown, a British hair stylist, has opened Hair By Bashar, a salon that caters to plus size clients who feel uncomfortable in mainstream salons. "Increasingly, larger women were telling me how they hate going to the salon because they are filled with slim, glamorous women," Brown explained to the Daily Mail. "For them, it feels the same as walking into a gym full of ultra-fit people. They feel like everyone is staring at them." So Brown has created a salon where larger women and men can feel comfortable getting their hair styled. This means extra large seats, gowns and hair-washing basins. Brown says he sympathises with curvier clients because he used to be overweight. Now he wants to make those who feel uncomfortable with their bodies glamorous when it comes to beauty. I find myself with mixed opinions on this one. Being pampered at the hair salon is one of the lovely luxury rituals that most women look forward to. I think its admirable that Bashar is attempting to create this environment for people who may not have enjoyed the process in the past. BUT... why should the more voluptuous of us feel Read More

As a massive fan, I was pleased (but not surprised) to see Adele win a multitude of awards at the VMA's. But for me the highlight of the night was her live performance, which certainly left no room for doubt that she is worthy of her huge success. Although her hit, "Rolling in the Deep," is the best-selling record of the year so far, Adele decided on a simple rendition of "Someone Like You," my personal favourite song. With just a pianist playing in the darkness behind her, there was no need for showy stage props and light shows, her voice truly does speak for itself. Well done Adele! Adele looked amazing with her hair pulled back in her signature ponytail and a simple yet sensational little black dress, as seen in the pic. You can get the look with the retro glam lace dress, available in the UK at Curvety. Read More

Although the world is crying out for curves to be accepted, it seems that beauty is still skinny deep in the eyes of beauty pageants. Cynthia de la Vega, 19, came second at the Nuestra Belleza Mundo Mexico beauty pageant last September - the country’s equivalent of Miss England. The result meant she would go on to represent Mexico at the 2011 Miss World competition in November, being held in the UK. Cynthia claims that she has been stripped of the opportunity due to gaining a mere 6lb! Speaking at a press conference, De la Vega said organisers withdrew her from the international pageant because she failed to lose the weight she had gained. "I was very sad and very deceived. I cried and cried and cried," she said. "They demanded that I lose a few kilos, but they never provided a nutritionist or any other assistance to ensure the weight loss." National director for the pageant, Lupita Jones, said in a statement that De Read More

While many of you are tucked up in bed this coming Sunday, 2 slightly crazy representatives of Curvety, the plus size clothing specialists, will be hauling themselves down to Portsmouth to run 10k (approximately 6.3 miles) to raise money for Cancer Research. Malina & Shaniece will be sporting pink tutu's and legwarmers as well as Curvety T shirts to brighten up the early morning, which will be spent sweating & puffing along the sea front. The cause is a very worthwhile one and is personally close to the heart of Malina Bergeman, owner of Curvety, due to a number of her family being affected by the illness. Because of funding from previous years runs and other donations Cancer Research have made great progress in fighting the disease which affects so many. You can look out for pics following the run at the Curvety facebook page - www.facebook.com/curvety You can also support us by sponsoring us, any donation will be very much appreciated - http://raceforlifesponsorme.org/curvety Read More

OK, so a Spring Summer lace trend is hardly breaking news but I for one am glad lace is back for SS11, and in a big way! Lace has continued in popularity from Autumn Winter and, like many trends that span multiple seasons, it has evolved. This season the lace trend has taken on a more classic look, with quality antique-style lace being the key. Think romantic, feminine & chic without being too girly or tacky. Where lace was once seen as a trim or an embellishment it is now the star of the show!

It's not often I report on Eastenders news but some of you may have noticed a little Igigi appearance on a recent episode! So Heather is all set to be Shirley's bridesmaid and in true Eastenders form the try on session involved a few drinks and very little class. Heather, who is played by Cheryl Fergison, can be seen here in an Igigi dress called the Modena gown in lavender, which is available in the UK at Curvety.com. Although the dress is stunning, the Eastenders wardrobe team have definitely gone for the "how not to wear this dress" angle by tying the silk tie belt to the front with a big unsightly and unflattering bow, and some very choice accessories! With the big day approaching it isn't clear whether this will be the outfit of choice but here's hoping they give Heather a day off from her frumpy costume choices and show the viewing public that curvy women can dress to impress! |
